Libin’s opened in Kalamazoo in 1953 under the fashion and style eye of Fred Libin. Fred worked in retail sales in Chicago and Los Angeles before settling in Southwest Michigan and opening the best men’s clothing store in the region.
Libin’s was the first store to move into the Cork Lane Shopping Center in 1954 from a small store on Lovers Lane. It is the only original store in the shopping plaza. Libin’s expanded in 1975 and in 1981 to meet the demand from customers, guests and longtime friends.
